{"id":11290,"date":"2021-12-31T23:52:45","date_gmt":"2022-01-01T06:52:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/?p=11290"},"modified":"2022-01-01T00:20:12","modified_gmt":"2022-01-01T07:20:12","slug":"reflections-on-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/?p=11290","title":{"rendered":"Reflections on 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>If there was a label for a year, this would be a year to forget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It felt like 2021 was trying compete with 2020 as being the worst year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we bid good riddance to 2021, I recall having the same attitude towards 2020 the end of last year.  So a flip of the calendar does not mean things go away, it just signifies a new chapter, and hope.  So here to hoping for a better 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Bad<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Health, was pretty bad.  That is the headliner, fighting an illness, good news is we caught it early and prognosis is good.  Late April was the start of a dark depressing time for me.<\/li><li>No end to Corona, it just won&#8217;t go away.  I think continue till at least Q2, but this year will mark its decreasing be a significant margin.<\/li><li>Jan 6 riots, can&#8217;t believe that happened in my lifetime.  Really unprecented.<\/li><li>One of the health issues was back pain due to significant weight gain.<\/li><li>Seahawks sucked this year, first time since being a Seahawks fan they were last in their division.  Eliminated so early from playoffs this season.<\/li><li>Eldest son moved out in December.  sad without him.<\/li><li>Longest power outage in our home.<\/li><li>Listing below that Corona virus vaccine is out as good, just wish I did Moderna or pfiser because I could the J&amp;J and I think started  cascade of problems.<\/li><li>Car accident so bad was in the news<\/li><li>Forced to get Long Term Care insurance<\/li><li>Side effects of meds, went from 315.6 in May 12 when I started meds to 350+ in a matter of a few weeks, on November 13th I hit 350.0<\/li><li>Historic heat triple digits.<\/li><li>Some RAM failed on me.<\/li><li>Inflation<\/li><li>The work year ended with a bad vulnerability.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Good<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Health wise at least I did not have serious bout gout this year<\/li><li>Home office has been redone, looks great.<\/li><li>Able to upgrade wifi and make home smart.  Network is solid.  Some new cameras up.<\/li><li>Also upgraded to 10G<\/li><li>Also upgraded HD Homerun.<\/li><li>Corona Virus vaccine out, (see bad news though)<\/li><li>Truly did get in to docker (ok podman but still containers)<\/li><li>Got a 3D printer, CNC, and generator.<\/li><li>Good both a new Hybrid CRV and ICE HRV.<\/li><li>New zoneminder server<\/li><li>New Kitchen, and work started on new bathroom.<\/li><li>Got grafana working, it is great.<\/li><li>Blood pressure normal 122\/74 wow.<\/li><li>Got Pi K8 cluster running<\/li><li>Got an RTX3060<\/li><li>Had a nice trip with Family to San Juans<\/li><li>First time the only debt I had was the home (it changed since so&#8230;)<\/li><li>Started move to Rocky Linux 8 from CentOS 7<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>So last year I weighed in at 319.0 lets see if this year I can beat that.  So here is where we end off on the weight.
