{"id":1227,"date":"2011-07-07T20:32:43","date_gmt":"2011-07-08T03:32:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/?p=1227"},"modified":"2011-07-07T20:32:43","modified_gmt":"2011-07-08T03:32:43","slug":"mulling-over-another-12-marathon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/?p=1227","title":{"rendered":"Mulling Over another 1\/2 marathon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s about that time for midyear reviews, and I am now deciding if I should run another 1\/2 marathon this year. \u00a0This one will be the Sunday after Thanksgiving which means the timing is awful, it will be raining,cold, still full from Thanksgiving, I would not have good sleep because of Black Friday, and Cyber Monday is the next day.<\/p>\n<p>So why run, the big reason is it forces me to train another two months. \u00a0Normally training tapers off after summer and I begin to go into maintenance mode around October. \u00a0Note that I do not stop training, its just that I train enough to match my intake.<\/p>\n<p>This race was mentioned by my teammates earlier this week. \u00a0At first my thought was &#8220;No Way&#8221;, we just got done with the Rock and Roll and the struggle was still fresh in my mind. \u00a0The emotional high was still strong, I just walked up a huge mountain, I was not ready to walk up another one.<\/p>\n<p>But a week changes things, as we get farther away from Rock and Roll 2011, I feel ready to entertain thoughts of another race.<\/p>\n<p>Another reason is I wanted to do better than what I did this year. \u00a0I did make my goal of beating last year, but I really wanted to beat 2 hours 15 minutes. \u00a0It is in the back of my mind that if I did not have a huge break in training, or if I did not drop back 9 corrals, I could have made this time.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, and what really got me thinking was today&#8217;s workout. \u00a0Not really the weights portion, but the warm up run. \u00a0It was on the treadmill, with a lower incline than usual, but I did run for 30 minutes at 6.5MPH, that will get me past 2 hours 15 minutes, better yet, 6.6MPH will get me to finish in under 2 hours. \u00a0I didn&#8217;t think I could do it, but somehow I managed, and I still think I had some gas left in the tank.<\/p>\n<p>I did pay for another race this year, the Seafair Torchlight, its both an 8k and a 5k. \u00a0I opted for the 5k because I will be running with my son. \u00a0I am looking forward to it.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1228\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/SeafairTorchlight2011.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1228\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1228\" title=\"Seafair Torchlight 2011\" src=\"http:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/SeafairTorchlight2011-300x247.jpg\" alt=\"Seafair Torchlight 2011\" width=\"300\" height=\"247\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/SeafairTorchlight2011-300x247.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/SeafairTorchlight2011.jpg 882w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1228\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Seafair Torchlight 2011 Registration<\/p><\/div>\n<p>It says a purchased it on 7\/01\/2011, that is wrong, I paid for it today.<\/p>\n<p>Can I bring down my weight? \u00a0I think the Seattle Marathon will give me incentive to do so.
