{"id":2712,"date":"2012-11-08T22:48:46","date_gmt":"2012-11-09T05:48:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/?p=2712"},"modified":"2012-11-08T22:48:46","modified_gmt":"2012-11-09T05:48:46","slug":"perfect-timing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/?p=2712","title":{"rendered":"Perfect Timing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I got my HD HomeRun Dual today.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/HDHomeRunDual.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2713\" title=\"HDHomeRunDual\" src=\"http:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/HDHomeRunDual.jpg\" alt=\"HDHomeRunDual\" width=\"442\" height=\"336\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/HDHomeRunDual.jpg 442w, https:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/HDHomeRunDual-300x228.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 442px) 100vw, 442px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was pretty easy for me to set up, but I can see how someone not technically literate would have a hard time setting up this device.<\/p>\n<p>Still, it is awesome. \u00a0This was one of the drivers that got me to go OTA and look at canning Comcast. \u00a0Netflix will replace Comcast, hope they get the message regarding my displeasure.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, I like this version because it only has one tuner to plug in to. \u00a0Some might think that&#8217;s a drawback because now you can&#8217;t plug in 1 for OTA and another for Cable. \u00a0Not me \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>After I plugged it in I had to update the drivers software and firmware, not a big deal, anyone familiar with windows could do it. \u00a0But I knew also to scan for new channels, at first I thought I had a broken unit, turned out to be a misconnected cable.<\/p>\n<p>I did do a bit of rewiring, I added a 1 to 6 port splitter and was worried that I may need a distribution amp (more on that in a bit), but that was not the case, \u00a0I was worried I might need to when I was missing some channels. \u00a0But later on in the day I moved it up into the attic and got a shorter RG6 cable vs a longer RG59 cable and lo and behold, I got all the channels I expected.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/RG6CablePurchase.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2715\" title=\"RG6CablePurchase\" src=\"http:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/RG6CablePurchase.jpg\" alt=\"RG6CablePurchase\" width=\"201\" height=\"448\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/RG6CablePurchase.jpg 201w, https:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/RG6CablePurchase-134x300.jpg 134w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 201px) 100vw, 201px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I mentioned the possible need of a distribution amp, its because I have to drive so many devices. \u00a0 I am still doing a shakedown and load testing to see how it all works, but it is promising.<\/p>\n<p>So far I have learned of two types of amps, a pre amp and a distribution amp. \u00a0The preamp helps pull in the signal whereas the distribution amp is meant to give more devices a signal. \u00a0I am so lucky to live up on a hill, in a location close to the transmitters and have them in the same general direction. \u00a0But I do have a bunch of devices, I think my old HD homerun and my new one count as 4 devices, then I have to add the TV&#8217;s. \u00a0But I think am good, we&#8217;ll see as I add more devices. \u00a0In the next day or so I will do a load test, to see if it can handle all the output devices or if I need a distribution amp, I do not think I will.<\/p>\n<p>Just doing pushups and situps today.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I got my HD HomeRun Dual today.
