a recap,

I went to bed at 9PM and even though it was earlier then last year, I think I should really shoot for 8PM cause when I got up at 3:30 it was a struggle.

I did my usual pre marathon routine of a shower, coffee etc.

I got up and got ready, my weigh in before I left was 288.6lbs

At this point I was still up in the air if I was going to take my No Xplode or not.

I went to the airport and decided to take the light rail in. I left the house at about 5AM and caught the 5:30AM light rail to downtown.

I was getting pre race jitters and had to use the bathroom before I jumped on the light rail.

I got downtown at about 6:15 and started my walk from Westlake Mall to Seattle Center where the startpoint was.

I am 50/50 about this, the monoroail would have saved my legs a bit but the walk was a good warmup.

When I got to Seattle center I decided to take my No Xplode, but I knew I had to use the bathroom so I did, line was long but there were some Port O Potties that were I little bit off that weren’t busy and was worth the walk.

After the bathroom I checked my bag in, I should do a better job at organizing my stuff. I noticed a bit of discomfort when I ran because my pouch was rubbing against my stomach and caused a rash, I did not notice it because as the race wore on my adrenaline masked the pain.

I tried to look for others I knew before the race started but it was past 7 and the corrals were starting to move. I did make it to my corral but it was too difficult to find my friends.

The race went well, I was doing a 13 min pace up until a little past mile 7, when I had to use the bathroom. I was doomed after that, I took my 5 hour energy drink but I could not recover my pace. But a nice old lady said I had a nice form.

At mile 10 I had some mild cramping but at mile 13 with .1 miles left but uphill the cramping was bad, I struggled to get to the finish line cause I was totally cramping up.

After the race I saw a family member who ran Mimi. She did well for herself and we took a pic together.

After resting a bit I decided to just go home instead of staying and resting.

It was a struggle to find my way around but I did get to the bag check area and checked out my bag. Thankfully the monorail was right there. I spend the $2.25 (worth every penny) and took the monorail back to Westlake mall this time.

The light rail pulled in and I rushed to it with what little strength I had left. I then slept for the first part of the ride.

I got to admit, from the light rail station to my car it seemed like another marathon. I easily racked up at least another mile in non marathon walking.

I got to my car and headed home where it was about 12:30. I realized if this was a full marathon, I would still be running, and already I was beat.

I was determined to have my burger though, I ordered from 5 guys online and drove there and had my kids grab my meal for me. No guilt, it was well earned.

I then took a nap of about an hour.

Right now, 10 hours later I am still in pain, but much much better, but I think tomorrow is the real pain. My forego church, I will see.

It is a revelation that I need to be on two orders of magnitude better in order to finish the full marathon. I can’t just tweak my training and add more. The other thing that characterized this race was my head was absolutely not in it, sure I had prerace jitters, but I meant this whole season, the desire wasn’t there.

That is the major change that has to happen, if I don’t get my heart truly in it, I will find myself downgrading to the half next year.

Final weight: 284.0

I
