{"id":5486,"date":"2015-09-28T22:39:34","date_gmt":"2015-09-29T05:39:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/?p=5486"},"modified":"2015-09-28T22:41:03","modified_gmt":"2015-09-29T05:41:03","slug":"garage-sensor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/?p=5486","title":{"rendered":"Garage Sensor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is my first official device of my sensenshow project. \u00a0It is a garage sensor to see if the garage door is open, and if there is motion.<\/p>\n<p>Another thing it will monitor is temperature and humidity so my dog will be comfortable in the garage.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/GarageSensor.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5487\" src=\"http:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/GarageSensor.jpg\" alt=\"GarageSensor\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/GarageSensor.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/GarageSensor-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a>Initially I will use an Arduino Uno with an Ethernet and Proto shield.<\/p>\n<p>May switch to a ENC28J60 and a Pro Mini, but after some testing I am having some trouble and it may be power related. \u00a0May even go wireless with a ESP-01 or even replace the Arduino with a NodeMCU.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The temperature humidity sensor is a DHT11.<\/li>\n<li>The motion sensor is a standard version 1 PIR motion sensor.<\/li>\n<li>I will use an ultrasonic distance sensor to see if the door is open, it is a HC-SR04<\/li>\n<li>An active buzzer is being used to provide audible alerts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I think the BOM is at about $40 or $50<\/p>\n<p>I loaded a few sketches to see if this would work, and for the most part it does, now time to document the plan.<\/p>\n<p>Just doing pushups and situps.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is my first official device of my sensenshow project. \u00a0It is a garage sensor to see if the garage door is open, and if there is motion.
