{"id":7423,"date":"2017-12-05T23:10:49","date_gmt":"2017-12-06T06:10:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/?p=7423"},"modified":"2017-12-05T23:10:49","modified_gmt":"2017-12-06T06:10:49","slug":"kingwin-power-supply-tester","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/?p=7423","title":{"rendered":"Kingwin Power Supply Tester"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wasted enough time trying to find my power supply tester so I ended up buying one.<\/p>\n<p>I got the Kingwin KPST-01 power supply tester<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=7424\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7424\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7424\" src=\"http:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/20171205_205234.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"336\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/20171205_205234.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/20171205_205234-300x126.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/20171205_205234-768x323.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Not much documentation, but I will try to add some.<\/p>\n<p>Normally you would plug this in before turning it on, the right side has the main motherboard connector.\u00a0 \u00a0 Note on the left side there is a smaller connector, if you do not connect the left side, the 12V2 rail will blink L.L and you will have a warning beep sound.<\/p>\n<p>The others give off the 5V 3.3V and 12V, this coolmaster power supply is showing slightly less than 12V and slightly more than 5V.<\/p>\n<p>The 280ms PG measures how long before the power supply sends a &#8220;Power Good&#8221; signal to the motherboard, it should be between 100 and 500ms<\/p>\n<p>The bottom port (which you can barely see in this picture) measure the old school HD power molex and the 12v and 5v LED on the left should turn on.<\/p>\n<p>The top port (which you cannot see) measures a SATA power connector and should light up all three 12V 3.3V and 5V.<\/p>\n<p>The left also has a floppy power connector and it too should only have 12V and 5V.<\/p>\n<p>Finally on the left if you remove the 2nd 12V rail connector, you can test PCI-E power connectors.<\/p>\n<p>Kind of cool, pain that there is not much documentation, but a little web research told me what I needed.\u00a0 Of course if I really wanted to test this I would test it on an o-scope.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some external links that helped<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifewire.com\/test-a-power-supply-using-a-power-supply-tester-2626160\">https:\/\/www.lifewire.com\/test-a-power-supply-using-a-power-supply-tester-2626160<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.passmark.com\/support\/lcd-power-supply-tester-faq.htm\">https:\/\/www.passmark.com\/support\/lcd-power-supply-tester-faq.htm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wasted enough time trying to find my power supply tester so I ended up buying one.
