{"id":9632,"date":"2020-04-02T22:35:31","date_gmt":"2020-04-03T05:35:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/?p=9632"},"modified":"2020-04-02T22:35:31","modified_gmt":"2020-04-03T05:35:31","slug":"teaching-an-old-dog-new-tricks-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.apolonio.com\/blog\/?p=9632","title":{"rendered":"Teaching an old dog new tricks"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Apparently there is a new system ID in CentOS 7 that I did not know about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-wordpress wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-the-geek-diary\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\nhttps:\/\/www.thegeekdiary.com\/centos-rhel-7-how-to-change-the-machine-id\/\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the clean up processes I did when setting up that AMI was to delete \/etc\/machine-id<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I thought it would recreate itself, apparently you have to run systemd-machine-id-setup to make a new one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I found this out while trying to troubleshoot mail routing in my setup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I was on the mail proxy \/var\/log\/maillog was empty.  Recreating the machine-id file and rebooting it helped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another side thing I found was \/var was filling up on my main mail server.
