Trying to get customized faceplates for my prints.

I liking the door, still improving some of my network. Didn’t do much today, watched football, Seahawks doing good.

The biggest pieces for my JBODs are done, small things like rack mounts or an optional door is left. I did order fastener hardware for door, but for the major backplane mount and even larger housing is done.
Also the new NAS parts are starting to come in, I may start putting it together, I got the parts. The Z440 base server is in too. I will test it out as well.
I do want to build the JBOD for the NAS first and test it out on the current NAS.
Got a lot done today.

This is my first production JBOD, I do have that monster exists

And my development one

But this is my first production one that will be on 24/7
Here is what it is replacing

And here is the big reveal

That little pack at the top, those are 2 more disks that are directly connected to the ESXi hosts. I totally forgot about those and did not account for them in this setup. It kind of opens up some possibilities though so I am leaving it. I cannot rack it because the power supply is behind that blank.
Gonna toss the Z420’s on the side there and make some room.
All in all looks like on a good track.
Also would like to remember that Toto entered our home 11 years ago.

Toto our dog came into our lives 11 years ago. We saw him first at the Seattle Humane Society, but were not allowed to take him that day. https://www.apolonio.com/blog/?p=4745
But the next day I recall going there early, being the second one in line and getting him.
He became family immediately.
Still emotionally not ready for a new dog, a year from now I want another dog.
But couple things need to happen, I told myself I will be under 305 when we get a new one. I hope to be more financially stable, we are on a debt speed run. Hoping things slow down a lot in January.
Also need to organize and puppy safe the house.
Another weekend with a lot going on, in a way it is preparing for 2026 more than wrapping up 2025.

Rocky 9.7 is a out, so is Rocky 10.1, my bandwidth is being used to download them as I post.
I was able to patch all but one of my boxes (it is doing a hard drive burn in) so that was good. But frigate acted up again. Here is what I did to fix it.
dnf erase gasket-dkmsdnf install gasket-dkms#if LINUX_VERSION_CODE >= KERNEL_VERSION(6,8,0) #if LINUX_VERSION_CODE >= KERNEL_VERSION(6,8,0) || \ (defined RHEL_RELEASE_CODE && RHEL_RELEASE_CODE >= RHEL_RELEASE_VERSION(9, 7))-#if LINUX_VERSION_CODE < KERNEL_VERSION(6, 4, 0)
internal->class = class_create(driver_desc->module, driver_desc->name);
-#else
internal->class = class_create(driver_desc->name);
with
internal->class = class_create(driver_desc->name);dkms autoinstall
modprobe apex
modprobe gasketSeems to have worked
Lost some decent weight, trending back down, But I think it is water

Starting to build these units out, got two so far, need a total of 7 more on order.
Parts are coming in for other projects, one important one before end of the year for one of my virtual file servers that have external drives.
Work is busy too, may be burning the midnight oil trying to get stuff done.
Just doing pushups and situps again, really need to do more, maybe swim tomorrow, but time is so limited.
Regardless weight seems to be returning back to pre thanksgiving levels.

I finally figured out the Pi Kodi box I wanted to use for front ends. I want to use a pi because it supports CEC and can be controlled with the TV remote.
But I had couple of challenges, the biggest one was getting the pi to see my HD Homerun and schedule.
Going to document, it is late, so won’t get it done here, maybe tomorrow, for sure taking notes.
Needed to test my documentation and build process.
Also I have not been swimming, supposed to take just a week off, but been so busy.

If there was a phrase to describe this month it is “Planning for 2026”. I mentioned a bunch of network changes and some new hardware, but I also thinking of a new dog.
Today I started building my first production JBOD instead of the reference prototype JBOD. Still printing a few things but it should be ready before next weekend.
Also been moving data and VMs around, getting new stuff on to the Rocky KVM.
Starting my goal setting for 2026.

My plans for the new NAS2026 and other improvements for 2026 storage are in motion.
Here is the kicker, I need to slowly stage the storage and upgrade storage. Phase 1 is the JBOD(s) plural. I need to get them build and simultaneously get the new HBA ready.
The drives which are the most expensive parts will come over time next year and I am considering buying a few at a time. That is the hard part, scheduling the upgrade while protecting the data.
Starting to get stuff in, got my first Raspberry Pi 5
Been a busy day, got a lot done.

I really wanted to sleep in today, but had to get up for a Doctor’s appointment. At least that did force me up.
My Black Friday haul was based on things I want to do in 2026 for my network. Spent quite a bit of money on storage and parts for a new NAS and some other things for the attached JBOD.
I have committed to building 7 JBOD and my get a 8th backplane for a spare.
Also looking to organize the front ends (kodi) for my media. Ordered a Raspberry Pi5 to try it out.
Also scripted a way to test wifi connectivity, leads the way to a nagios check.
