Getting good with ansible. But finding I need to get an LDAP server outside my the secure area of my network.
For others that connect to the lab.
Now I need to figure out how to authenticate with guacamole.

Had a long day of work last night, ending at 3AM, but I got a lot of stuff done.
At home, ansible is doing me right.
My son is ready to start XC, 1 more week till his first meet.
Gonna be great.

This evening I decided to rebuild/reconstitute the lab.
Now that I retired an ESXi host, I think I got space to continue with the lab.
Got all these little things to set up.
Patching, nagios, guacamole, proxies etc.

Still feeling sluggish but had a normal work day, just powered through.
I miscounted my VM counts, there was a dupe, but also wondered why a VM I had was still needed, I just decommed it.
So back down to 10 VMs.
Also digging back into ansible to manage stuff again.

I think its cause of the smoke or air quality

The past two nights tracks with my difficulty breathing. Took a sick day today.
On the Linux front, I figured out how to install guacamole on Rocky 9.

What a disaster last night.
I was cleaning up some stuff and I had a VM that was also acting as a datastore.
So when these go down, it causes havok.
So last night I had to reboot an ESXi host, unfortunately it I could not log in, only as root.
In the end I was up till 4AM fixing the problem or at least trying to. Do some weird stuff like removing from the domain via CLI because it was not work.
In the end it ended up being time was off with the DC. So future note, make sure time matches.
Unfortunately found a bunch more VMs that may be needed to be monitored and converted, at least two C7 boxes boxes bring the count up to 13, but one of those boxes will definitely NOT be upgraded so it is actually 12.

Got me a little over 4 years of service
4 years is not too bad. Server is actually shut off.
All of the C7 VMs on it were converted to R9
So it is running.
Officially got 10 production machines (3 cloud, 3 on other ESXi host and 4 physical) still on C7.
Still need to make sure things can be powered on, monitors are correct etc.
But I did patch a bunch with ansible today.
Need to do a full power off test.

Wanted to migrate the harder servers out of the way first. The most important server is done.
Now moving other servers in order of importance.
There are 6 VMs left, it is reasonable to do 3 a day, after this one it looks to get much easier.
Heck there is an outside chance I can finish them all tomorrow.
If that is the case, I can spend Sunday consolidating.

Falling behind on my Rocky 9 upgrades. Recall my goal was to get all machines off of my old ESXi host by rebuilding them on my new ESXi host as Rocky 9 boxes.
Been struggling with getting a VM to do macvlan docker network. Forgot you have to change certain security parameters
Allow promiscuous mode: Yes
Allow forged transmits: Yes
Allow MAC changes: No
Hopefully no more bottlenecks.
Tomorrow going live with an important server.

I thought I been sleeping OK but fitbit says I am restless.
I agree, needed couple of naps today.
Also found out Carly my PT is leaving, so sad, wanted to show her I lost weight.
Anyway goal is still there.
