Big sadness that son didn’t make it for the 3200, still in it for the 1600 though.
As a consolation prize for the day, they were league champs, big, but still bummed on individual performance.
Finally got Rocky 9.4 downloaded and most of my systems are up to date. Working on getting Rocky 9.4 pxe boots working.
As of this post not at 10000 steps. Headed out to get it done now.

You don’t see that everyday
Kind of hot evening though. Got the fans going.

Unfortunately it is late, got half an hour before midnight so will try to type this out quick. Did spend the last hour trying to get the balance of my steps.
But me youngest son, the last of our kids, really impressed me today.
He was seeded 11th place in the KingCo Boys 1600m. Today he… well see below.
Lets start when he was in middle school, it was a troubling experience for him, got into fights, had emotional outbursts. He was behind in his reading.
Then Covid hit in 2020, this upended the school system. He was forced to at home school. This was actually good for him, unlike most kids. Without the peer pressure, he was able to reset. What good luck, but when they returned to class the following year, in spring of 2021, I forced him to run cross country.
His 5K PR was bad, really bad, 37:23.6, and the experience was not right, so I forced him to do it again in fall of 2021 and he posted a 24:01.0, better, but still not great. So it came as a surprise when he asked to run Track during his Sophomore year. He ran his 1600M st 5:56.50, but something happened. He committed himself, got disciplined.
During his Junior year of cross country he was on the cusp of breaking a 20 Minute 5k. He finished with a PR of 20:13.1 and a 1600M of 5:31.13
Then he learned and improved his craft. Cracked that 5k his Senior year at an amazing 18:55.3
We are at the end of track season, and he already made the all time list for the 3200 which is his race at 10:40.09. But the more common mile, a race he is beat by most, he was seeded 11th today.
I don’t know what happened, maybe it was the thought that this was his last 1600 race, he placed 3rd, beating the odds, and advancing to districts.
At 1 point he was 20 yards in front of the others. He was in the lead up until the 220 M left point, but he finished 3rd. Getting him his first medal, a podium stance, 10 points for the team, and a spot to advance to Districts.
He came to me afterwards crying, I didn’t know if he was crying because he placed way higher than expected or sad because he didn’t win. Found out he was happy.
Not done yet, just that he knows he is guaranteed a spot next week. But Saturday, he can get another spot on the 3200M, his race.

I did not replace my main home assistant, I just set up a new for simple house stuff I am going to share with family.
The original one has too many things going on, I needed something smaller and cleaner for basic stuff.
Gives my a chance to practice and redo some things. Unfortunately Zigbee will be a little tougher.

Thinking about changing my cloud services, I know I have to because CentOS 7.9 is EOL next month. But may consider more stuff.
Also want to go through and do machine DR rebuilds. Try to automate as much as I can.

Took a sick day, needed it.
Did get my steps and floors, but feeling tired.

At 7PM I had 0 floors and 500 steps, went to the airport to get my steps done.
The first lap and a half I walked with no music, but afterwards about halfway I put on a video that was talking about scifi stories.
Time went by pretty quick.

Made what is another annual trip to Shrimp Shack. Ended spending about $200 there.
Today we left around 9:27 AM, went to the ATM for cash (forgot if they were cash only or not, they take card), go some McD breakfast and were there at around 11:07

Got my steps and floors done by 7PM, I can sleep early tonight.

Allergies been bad for my son, hitting me too.
Got some afrin and claratin to deal with it.
Also got AC blowing away.

My youngest son didn’t do as well as he expected to. He was supposed to be #1 but I think allergies got to him.
He dropped to 4th, not bad mind you but not what he wanted.
Kind of sad for him, not sure how to console him.
