Almost forgot to post tonight. Been busy preparing. I got what I got, not sure if I need anything else. Maybe I got too much stuff.

Over 10 years ago I wanted to have a mobile rack for training. It was a big monster heavy to load. Too damn heavy, not practicle.

Today I build a smaller one, hoping to see if kids will like it on Tuesday.

Weight is a bit high, I think if I weighed in after I got home would be lighter.

Moved from the old FreeNAS server to the new TrueNAS server.

Wasn’t smooth, let me count the ways

• for one thing, don’t move the entire pool that has the system folders, it wrecked some havok on the new server
• Wasted a lot of time moving data I thought was already moved.
• Although I have the old data, the move is permanent 1 way.
• I lot of legacy junk could be removed.
• Home dirs are in a different location.
• Perms were different
• Sudoers were different
• Need to make sure snapshots were still running
• and backups
• and monitoring

Calling it done though, not moving back. Will look to replicate some stuff though. Feels like a greenfield environment.

I am building a couple of things and need a bunch of filament. I ran out a bit on the normal petg black I use, then tried to order on Sunlu store, there was none.

I got two rolls of official Sunlu from Amazon, that buys me time, but I also ordered from Sunlu reseller Yoopai as well.

It is weird how there seems to be a shortage of filament.

I got so many little things, I am running out of time.

Was hoping TrueNAS was already up, but there is a good chance I will get it done this weekend.

Initiating a large zfs send, users are there already, after I need to recreate the shares.

Before I go live this weekend I will do 1 final sync.

That is not all, building 3 4U mini racks, printers are busy.

Still working on trying to fit fans on the front of my JBOD, heat did go down a bit after I covered all the holes, but I think I need to go 80mm fans. I ordered them and will try them out.

I pulled the trigger on a new firewall. I am nervous at the cost, it came to 905.00, but it has everything I need. RAM and storage included.

There was a cheaper version, but no RAM and RAM is where the rub is.

So in 2026 I got a new NAS and a NEW Firewall.

Looks like I will be in major cost trimming mode for the next few weeks.

Pushing to clean and organize the house. A lot of cool things gonna happen, need it clean.

The JBODs I have been building uses smaller 40mm fans. I am going to see if a 120mm fan or two 80mm will do the trick.

Ordered a converter for a 12V fan to see if it will work. So far this is Frankenstein cover is what I made.

I did it by using the editor to cut a hole in the back and virtually attaching a base.

I am not only going to compare volume, but cooling as well. Currently everything is below 40C degrees and I will consider it success if it stays that way.
