I just tested zoneminder against one of my development boxes and it did impress.
My old zoneminder box is on Dual Xeon E5649, the test zoneminder is running it on a Ryzen 3 3100, the production one will be on a Ryzen 5 3600
There is enough headroom to run other things like minecraft. So this may replace a significant server I have. If anything, at least it will have lower CPU utilization.
Another interesting thing I can do to lower CPU is to offload the video analysis on to the DVR or Camera itself.
In other news, snow forecasted for tomorrow. May not go to PT.
