Reflections On 2025

It was a sad year, a large part of it was the lost of my dog Toto, I am going to list the bad and good like last year, but losing Toto was truly the most heartbreaking thing of the year for me.

The Bad

  • The top of this list of course was the loss of Toto, in addition to his passing, one thing I did not notice was how much medical expenses piled up in that final year. It was worth it, but putting him to sleep was the hardest.
  • Got a weird bulge in my leg, not sure what it is, had to go to ER, but we are keeping an eye on it.
  • Home got clean and messy, could not stay clean.
  • RAM and storage prices surged
  • Garbage collector strike caused pileup of garbage at home
  • Finances went into the gutter 2026 will be a year of recovery.

The Good

  • Got better a 3D printing even before the Bambu P1S, but that triggered a good thing, and I ended up getting a 2nd P1P that was upgraded to a P1S which helped me finish projects faster.
  • I build a 10″ mini rack. Friends liked it, but saw online that you could print them. I went nuts and printed more.
  • After I was able to print a rack, why the heck not build a JBOD as well. Now I have slots and capacity at home.
  • Got SMS going and OOB notifications
  • Got into Gridfinity as well
  • Mini servers became a thing at home
  • Wife became a US citizen
  • Got the first production KVM host going at home
  • Got home assistant at the Molokai house and my Son’s apartment
  • Set up ZFS for backups on a Linux Server
  • Started Zepbound lost 25lbs this year due to it
  • Improved the 433Mhz network at home
  • Upgraded Zoneminder
  • Upgraded to Windows 11

You know on reflection a lot of good things happened this year, overshadowed by 1 huge loss.

Here is the weight to beat next year.

Weight: 321.8
