Rattlesnake Ledge Hike

This is the first time I did this hike and also the first time I did a hike with my entire family.

We got up pretty early, about 6AM and started getting ready.  I think we overpacked, we did not need near what we took.

We left our home at about 7:15AM and reached there at 8AM.  There was ample parking, not sure if it was because we were early or maybe the weather turned some people away.

Although the weather was bad, there was some great companionship, I expected more of people in my group of about 18 to complain but the hike was not too hard, but not entirely easy either.

I did take photo’s and did try to run ahead of everyone to take photo’s and it sure made it feel like I was doing some interval training.

I noticed our group was getting spread wider and wider apart, the fast ones at the front and the slow ones in back, so getting photo’s of everyone was not as practical, so 3/4 of the way up I put away the camera and just hiked.

Gravity was on our side on the way down but the incline killed my knees.  It was still fun though as we closed in on the finish line and saw everyone come in.

My youngest child made it up all the way up and back down without complaining.  It made me reflect on this phase of my life where I feel my kids can start doing these things with me.  It is a great feeling.

It was a great cardio workout so this certainly qualifies for my workout of the day.
