Wyse Ram Problem

OK, I finally figured out what the heck was going on with my Wyse clients,  so a little background…

I was wondering what the heck was going on with my Wyse thin client, it was not booting up to Thinstation OS, it was hanging on Unpacking initramfs

This was driving me nuts for a few days, it would boot to LARD and I checked how much RAM and it Said 500MB (about), some earlier research told me this image needed more than 500MB because that is how much data the initramfs is, add to that RAM for operations and the 500MB is not enough.

This did not seem right because I know I put in a 1GB DDR2 RAM

The top is 256MB DDR2 stick, the bottom RAM is DDR2 and 5300 and worked,

The full 1GB of RAM is available

The middle two are 6400 1GB RAM and did not work.

HalfRamWyse

This shot show 1/2 of 1GB available and I know it has a 1 GB Stick.

I did purchase another 5300 1GB chip and it too was only half available as well.

I went back and returned it for another 5300 this time with larger physical chips on the module, and 1GB was fully recognized in the BIOS and it did boot up to thinstation.

Also as a side note, a 2GB chip presented itself as 1GB and booted up as well.

I did a treadmill 30 today…

Time:  409 Cal 2.0 Miles
