USB Wireless for Linux

This was going to be a review for the Sabrent USB-A11N which is a USB Wireless N adapter.

Sabrent USB

I been trying to find a small, Linux compatible USB adapter, and this one certainly fits the billing.

Here is the back of the packaging

And upon closer inspection of the system requirements

Sabrent USB Linux Compatible

It should be Linux compatible with a kernel 2.4 or later.  No prob, I run CentOS 5 which is 2.6 and according to the requirements, it should run on older CentOS 4, as of this writing CentOS 6.3 is the latest version.

So I fire up a Linux C4 box, no go, I do a C5 box no go.

I look in to it more by running lsusb and noticed it is a Realtek…. ugh, I had this problem before with the Patriot PCUSBW1150.

I doublecheck and sure enough, the the USB ID is 0bda:8176 which is the Realtek 8192CU chipset.

And getting it to work is a whole, much longer story.

I will post a regular article (not a blog post) on compiling this for CentOS 5.

As for working out today, it was supposed to be a 2 workout day, but my workout with my personal trainer was longer than usual,  45 minutes instead of 30, also it was a high cardio workout.  So today I will pass on the second treadmill run.  Today the weather was horrible, tomorrow I hope it clears because I want to do the 7 mile run.

Weight: 282.4
