I am going all in on a new server I purchased, a Dell T410 Server
Initially I thought this was a great deal. In addition to it being cheap it was discounted by 30%.
No drives of course, but then I realized this needed a bunch more upgrades.
The CPU seemed underpowered and will probably need an upgrade, or a 2nd one. Although the CPU is cheap, the heat sink was 5 times the prices. Yes a 12 dollar CPU needs a 60 dollar heat sink.
RAM is not enough, but can go up to 128GB, at that level I can squeeze all my existing VMs in to 1 box.
It does come with two power supplies though.
Another expense is the hard drive controller card, they are cheap, but the cables are expensive. I think I will end up making one.
