Starting Path On New Upgrade

Got a new ESXi 7 compatible server.

It is an HP Z840 (I been going HP a lot lately)

  • 2x Xeon e5-2609 v4
  • NVIDIA Quadro K620 (Can do h.264)
  • 16 GB of RAM (Was going to upgrade anyway)
  • No Hard Drives
  • No CPU Shroud

Definitely going to have a lot of work done.

Need drives, caddies, etc.

First thing is to get this in and see what is in it. Once it boots and stuff I will get RAM, will start with two 32GB sticks of DDR4 LRDIMM.

Then thinking of upgrading CPU to E5-2640 v4

At that point I can start considering production loads.

Long way to go yet.

Was able to get to 12000 steps today, still hurting though.

Sore Knee

Barely hit my 12000 steps and 10 floors because my knee started to hurt a lot.

I did push a bit running on the treadmill, I didnt think much of it.

Not sure if I walking early tomorrow, may need a break.

Start of New Month

Felt like a rest just doing 12000 steps, got it done.

Another new thing (or restart) is my son started Cross Country again, did good, Team looks promising.

Went in to office today, I am beat up.

End of August

Finally, got the trifecta

  • 500,000 steps
  • 15,000 steps per day
  • 10 floors per day

PT said I lost 8lbs, and my performance was the best since she started using software to track.

Also my weight is back down to preprednisone levels. I agree.

Half Million Steps

Did it, walked a 1/2 millions steps in 30 days. This was a small stretch goal because the main goal was to do it in August which has 31 days.

To complete the trifecta I would need 15k steps tomorrow and 10 floors.

I am going to push for 10 floors before lunch and 7500 before I go to my PT.

Here is how my shoes have changed.

You can clearly see the wear. These shoes will be lucky to last September.

Don’t get me wrong, 15,000 steps a day is a lot, but the physical part is not the challenge, working it into your schedule is.

Today I was busy at work, at 4:54 I had only 475 steps because I was busy. It was not until 8:52, four hours later when I cracked 15,000.

Yeah its more than just a physical challenge.

Rest Helps

Did not get a true rest, but had a little reprieve when I did not do my morning walk.

So in the afternoon, I actually had a decent walk. But now I am beat.

Kind of tired now though.

Done Early

Got my steps before noon today, so it kind of freed up my day.

Went to RePC and got a case, also found a server, a Dell PowerEdge T330 Looks like it would make a great stable TrueNAS server, but an ESXi host is what I need. Also I found a case at RePC that I would use for my TrueNAS server.

Unfortunately, MAX RAM is 64GB, looks like I am going to return it.

Another thing I have figured out was how to stream HDHR on a web page, I have done it via VLC in the past, but got it on chrome now.

Weight finally dropped.

Worn Down But Almost Done

So exhausted, a lot to do, not getting it done.

Didn’t have time to work out either just normal 15k walk and just barely made that.

Have a lot of little things I need to do, maybe tomorrow.

I did sleep well though.

Mentally Tough Walk

What a walk, I did this long unusual route.

New Long Route

Was brutal, it was hot, I was by myself, it was a new route, and I had a 16lb backpack.

It was a toll mentally, but I got it done.

Just need 15k steps a day

I feel relieved that is all I have to do to record Half A Million steps in 30 days. But calling it good.

Just 1 more week of 15000 and I am going back down to 12000. It has been a mighty stretch to do it.

On the tech side, trying to figure out how to stream TV without plex from a web page.

I think I have a way.
