Python Challenges

I now have less VMs to upgrade locally from C7 to R9 than I have in the cloud.

Looking into one of them now but am encountering python problems.

CentOS 7 supported python 2 and have a few python scripts that may not work on python 3.

I found one I had to check file dates but it did not work on python 3.

Also I want to be careful with this second to last physical C7 box. I want to make sure it is fully functional and will document as well.

I am thinking physical box, but a VM to take over just in case.

Another Upgrade

I could have moved another server from C7 to R9 today, but am going to wait till tomorrow. Gonna let tonight’s backup happen then do it tomorrow.

Seahawks won but an incredible game was the loss by Denver Broncos.

Did not do my fitbit today, needed rest and it was raining, not sure how I am going to achieve the fitbit goals.

State Fair 2023

Only 1 of my kids (although he brought 2 of his friends) went with my wife to the state fair.

Next year I am not sure if we are going to do it again. This was the last free ticket my kids would get

I did eat badly, but I found a nice quiet place in the pavilion to wait for the kids to finish.

Had some makers there

I did get a lot of steps in and was kind of trivial to get the balance of my steps.

Got home, and relaxed.

Rest Awarded

Finally completed upgrading my Plex servers all to Rocky 9. This one was particularly hard because I had to deal with the SAS controller which was deprecated in R9.

Everything but some drivers needed to work with Nikon Raw files. I even got monitoring and drupal working.

So with that said I felt like I earned a rest and did not do my 10k steps. It was a hard day at work too.

Just three more on prem physical boxes to go. I may have the parts to hit them this weekend.

Upgrading Physical Boxes

Getting together things needed to do the physical boxes upgraded to R9

Got 4 that are at CentOS 7. Eventually will get all of them to Rocky 9.

For sure will do my last Plex server this week, and if parts come in I will do my MariaDB server.

Unfortunately my plex server will require a LOT of hand holding. This is an unusual box.

My weight swung upwards, but that was expected, too bad.

Working Through Ansible Installs

Got my first service to install via ansible, it is openldap. It worked so well I upgraded my Rocky 8 LDAP server to Rocky 9.

Need to be careful though, I made sure I could log in via local account.

Will go though other installs but this is a brown field environment with established services.

It is working though.

Second day of under 340, will tomorrow be the day I am officially under 340?

All In for Ansible

Getting more hours under my belt with ansible. Trying to automate my homeserver lab with ansible.

Now time to work through each service on the home server to see if I can automate all of it.

Got my steps done, time to sit back and relax after this post.

VMs at Rocky 9

I got all the planned VMs to migrate from C7 to R9 done.

There is 1 that I have reason’s for not migrating, but as far as VMs go, I am done.

Now got physical and cloud VMs.

For my future self, when trying to use a H310 or similar on an R9 box, use the elrepo kmod-mpt2sas package in elrepo testing.

dnf --enablerepo=elrepo-testing install kmod-mpt3sas

One really stupid mistake is the box I was upgrading was the box I get kickstart files from. Luckily I tested a full install on a VM and had everything I needed.

I didn’t do my steps today, I needed a break. Let’s see if I can get it tomorrow.

XC 2023 Real Race

My son finally ran a race where he didn’t need to hold back.

He did really well, officially cracked 20 minute 5k ran it in something like 19:37

Was a good day, got more than half my steps in, unfortunately I did not get my floors in during my 10k so I had to find something to climb up.

In getting my steps I cracked 11000 steps.
