VDI is the Virtual desktop offering by VMware, it was interesting in that it was not a technical presentation but a business one.
It talked about seven things that cause VDI implementations to fail, they were not technical in nature.
- Treating th Users as VIP’s or everyone else
- Thinking Server & desktop virtualization is the same
- Love of Technology
- Accepting the Application Mess
- Indulgence
- Impatience
- Failure to change enough
The last item was really interesting. It talked about BYOPC or BYOSM Bring Your Own PC or Smartphone.
When I get back I want to make a report on this. I’ll toss it to management and see what they say.
You know throughout this week I have been only doing pushups and situps, but I realize, I walked A LOT.
