Parts for My NAS 2026

Getting ahead of schedule but all the parts are in for my 2026 NAS are here except for the drives. I am going to do a longer form post regarding the build tomorrow.

So I have the base server, here is what I got

  • HP Z440 Workstation 6-Core E5-1650 v4 3.6Ghz with 32GB of RAM and an NVS310
Looks like it is populated with 4 x 8GB DDR4 ECC RAM. So I can reasonably got to 64GB by adding 4 more later, but the goal is to go to 128GB of RAM.
  • For the OS I have two transcend 120GB SATA SSD
  • The HBA is an LSI SAS9305-16e
  • NIC is an Intel X520-DA2 (two 10GB SFP+), not I am thinking of going DAC but I already have SFP+ GBIC and fiber
  • Parts for 2 JBOD
  • Rack will be a GeeekPi 8U 10″ Cabinet
Going to be tight because this is just an 8U unit each JBOD will take 3 U and the ATX power supply takes 2U
  • I have a power supply for the JBOD
  • GL.inet GL-RM1 with ATX Power control board
  • UPS (will use existing one)
  • Orico 2.5mm SSD to 3.5 HD Adapter
  • StarTech 3 bay with in 2 slot

Also found some test drives around the house to play with the new JBOD.

Weight: 326.6
