Yesterday I posted that there was a problem with my new NodeMCU unit, there is no problem, the issue is that there are two versions of this product, a 0.9 which works with the Arduino IDE and a 1.0 which right now does not.

I did have a great 1 mile run today, it was closer to 1.5 miles with a 1/2 mile walk.
