I am planning a Home Assistant install in the Molokai house at the end of the month, kind of interesting in the logistics. Getting a UPS there, planning the install, internet connectivity. I think it should be a blog all its own.
Slowly planning, need to get my vacation and flight in though.
Came across an idea where I can put something like money in to a 3D printed device where you would have to break in order to read it. Found these things which would go in a keychain.
There is a small hole on the opposite side where you would place money, and you would attach this to a keychain.
If you are ever in need of cash you would break open this for the cash.
Going to make one for the key chains for the cars.
Also been working on pihole a bit, looks like version 6 doesnt use an external web server anymore. Just wondering if I should force apache or just go with the built in web server.
Another thing is trying to get Windows 11 in a VM that was cloned. After playing with it a bit I think the issue is sysprep. Not going to pursue it much, most my VMs are Linux and I can treat windows ones as 1 offs.
Forgot to wear my fitbit during the day, gonna try and get at least 1000 steps.
Today, a Sunday, I got ahead of my tax filing for 2024. I usually do it the weekend before, but I got most of the things I need to file, all left are student expenses and stuff which Turbo Tax reports I need to complete.
But according to the numbers, we getting a small refund, which is good because we are not loaning out free money.
But the thing I want to mention is that I am finding the weekends is where I need my time back to rest. I did wake up at 7:30 did the dogs insulin and my taxes and went to bed at 9AM till 1PM.
Total I think I slept 10 hours.
Even though I have a desk job, I been burning me weekdays pretty hard.
I had about 2 hours of sleep last night, I was ok though. Because I had a lot of rest in the bank so to say.
What was surprising was I got my 10k steps and 10 floors.
I was going to call it quits, but my son convinced my to go to the Y, it was a good feeling, I initially did only 15 minutes on the elliptical, but when I saw I only needed 30 more minutes I would get it all, I hid the treadmill.
I did get more progress on my KVM host. I got it kickstarting and it works.
