Amazing how nicely it works. Provides out of band access to one of my computers.
Speaking of computers, got my mediacenter upgraded and am going through some hard drive checks.
Office is incredible, it is clean. Feeling good about it.
Being Thanksgiving week, got a lot going on, I dont see myself having a normal workout.

I finally got my office really cleaned up, looks much better. Feels open again. Going to slowly return and reshape my office.
Still a lot to go, but the progress is significant. Feels clean also.
I was going to replace the case of my media server, but I noticed the fan and drive position could fix the heat issues. Going to monitor for now.
Also had to mention, I went to ER late last night, just to check out a lump in my leg. PCP and daughters urged me to.

Gonna spend the weekend trying to reorganize my office network. Just my office.
Trying to clean up make it easier to function. In reality, I need to get rid of stuff.
There are some things that do not need to be here any more.

OK not physically moving homes but moving data and parts.
Currently as I post I am moving data from an 3.5 inch disk to a 2.5 inch SSD. The data taken up is only 28GB and the file system is only 64GB, but the disk is 2TB and 3.5″ and I am going to replace it eventually with a 14TB disk. Because I want to organize the data better.
Tomorrow I will do more detailed planning after my normal Friday tasks, but in morning of Saturday I am going to move the guts of a server another box that has better airflow.
Sunday I am going to work on moving and preparing data.

I didn’t have to crossflash it but the HBA is functional. It is SAS 9300, got it on my bench.
After I finished I rebooted to CentOS7 and it looked fine.
Thinking of doing Rocky 9 as well.

After creating the flash drive I boot to uefi mode and did these steps
# This erases the running flash/bios on the RAID controller.

sas3flash.efi -o -e 6 < keeps manufacturer stuff (this is preferred)

Last night my legs were cramping while I slept, I pretty sure I dehydrated myself while I was asleep.
Woke up and weighed in was really low. Weighed in again after swim and am same weight.

Got my first JonsBro N3, 3D printed system done.
Needed those correct inserts and they just worked.
I tested out access one of the drives using a USB to SATA connection. It worked!!!
The JBOD rack is done.
Hoping there is time tomorrow to test the HBA.
Just did pushups and situps. Too cold and didnt sleep well.

Before I give an update, I want to say that it may be cheaper to buy a purpose built case, I am doing three of these so I got a little bit of that economy of scale going for me. When done I will do a BOM on all this and we can compare.

Got the wrong brass inserts though, they are too big, and the ones I had on hand were too small.
Anyway it is coming along, predict it will be done by end of Sunday, maybe not in production but production ready.
Keep getting problems with drive alignment. Had to a custom one with a drive a did a block check.
When I did a pvcreate I had to do this
pvcreate --dataalignment 1m /dev/sdc1
Went swimming today, got a lot done too. Feeling good. But it is late.
I didn’t display it but my lowest weight since I was recording was the data Toto passed, it was 322.4, the next day I was 322.6 I am a pound away at beating those numbers. It is possible to crack 320 by end of Month and an outside chance of cracking 310 by end of year.

I spend hours in this chair I am sitting in. It is not unusual for me to be in my chair for 12 hours in a day. So I looked at some high end chairs
The chair which looks like a gaming chair is over 4k. But I admit it is comfortable. Can’t do it. Too expensive.
Finally got home at about 5:30PM and I tried to get my new JBOD going, but the inserts I got was too small.
I pivoted and got most of my physical drives monitored on my network. Noticed more heat. Heat is the issue.
Haven’t mentioned it but the days I did not swim I did not do 10k steps. Too cold.

Got a bunch drives that a needed to replace, kind of a pain. I finished one on my media center, and my backup server. It was a lot of work to get in to.
I did swim today, got a lot done in the evening, went swim, got meds, got food, picked up my amazon.
Lot of things to do this weekend.
