Interesting Linux Web Cam

So I came across some web cam software while looking for something else on the net today.

It was pretty nice software called “motion”

The web site for the software is here

What made it really easy to setup was having a compatible USB Camera.

I first tried a Gearhead webcam I had but I have had problems in the past getting  it to work in Linux, but then I tried a cheap Inland USB Camera and it worked.

It worked out of the box, and so did the software.  In fact, it worked too well, it was scary easy on how I installed it so quickly.

Basically plug in the web cam, yum install ffmpeg motion

then a few tweaks of the config file and type motion

That’s it.

Wish my workouts were that easy, just hitting some pushups and situps.
