On slashdot today there was news of a vulnerability to a popular library called phpmailer. I know I have it on my systems due to wordpress being installed. I think the issue is that there is now checking for an escape character which could lead to remote code execution.
I looked it up more and I don’t think I am affected, with that said I went and looked around my websites, and lo and behold one of my sites had an OLD version of wordpress.
I went through several iterations of updates to get it up to date. Found out later there is an automated way to update it.
